Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo with Marin Alsop, conductor

Presented by Harriman-Jewell Series at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Kansas City

October 10, 2022

From its humble first concert in 1953 in São Paulo, Brazil, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo has grown into international fame, in part to the vision and direction of Marin Alsop, the US conductor who transformed the Baltimore Symphony. The Harriman-Jewell Series continues to provide rare artistic experiences for Kansas City audiences, and to be the first to bring these performances to you. This orchestral performance marks three debuts for Kansas City: the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo’s debut in Kansas City, the first time the Villa-Lobos Harmonica Concerto will be performed in the city, and the highly anticipated debut of Marin Alsop on a Kansas City conductor’s podium.
