MAKE THE HOLIDAYS SPARKLE
In 2015, Kansas City Ballet produced their critically-acclaimed version of The Nutcracker by Artistic Director Devon Carney. This production has not only wowed Kansas City audiences for these past five years, but it received praise when it traveled to The John F. Kennedy Center in 2017. The Washington Post declared Kansas City Ballet’s The Nutcracker was “positively oozing charm”.
Create a tradition with your family and friends. Attend a performance of The Nutcracker and be sure to sit for a souvenir photo with one of the performers, pick out your favorite ornament or your very own nutcracker as a memento, and enjoy some holiday cheer with a themed dessert or drink at the hall. If it’s snowing, there’s no where more beautiful to admire it than in the Kauffman Center’s beautifully windowed Brandmeyer Hall.
You’ll delight in E.T.A. Hoffman’s classic, Victorian-era story features Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, Dr. Drosselmeier and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Kansas City Ballet delivers a magical theatrical experience complete with exquisite costumes, grand sets and captivating choreography. Tchaikovsky’s legendary score is played by Kansas City Symphony. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!

An audience member once shared a favorite memory of Kansas City Ballet’s The Nutcracker:
“I took my 3-year-old grand-daughter with me to The Nutcracker. It was her first time at a ballet. About 15 minutes into the performance she leaned over and whispered to me: ‘I can’t hear what they’re saying.'”
