Kansas City Jazz Academy at the American Jazz Museum is entering its second year and continues to offer hands-on performance training in the jazz language for toddlers through high school students for free at one of the most significant crossroads of Jazz – 18th & Vine. Up and coming local players, seasoned veteran musicians, and top national artists are all part of the experience.
Elementary grade and toddler + family classes introduce young players to the core concepts, instruments, and great performers of jazz using improvisation, movement, play, art, story, and song to explore the jazz experience.
Classes take place every Saturday at the American Jazz Museum and Gem Theater. The current session continues through July 29 and the next session begins September 9, 2017. Registration is required and new students are invited to join on a rolling basis. Find out more at Americanjazzmuseum.org/kcjazzacademy.
