November 23 – December 23
Quality Hill Playhouse will celebrate the joy and wonder of the Christmas season through its beloved songs and carols when CHRISTMAS IN SONG opens November 23. For the 17th consecutive year, the musical theatre company continues its tradition of presenting their unique blend of sacred and secular music in a cabaret setting in a production that, through the years, The Pitch has called “the best Christmas show in town” and “Kansas City’s most consistently stirring Christmas show for 15 years.”
This year’s show features traditional carols (“Silent Night,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “Joy to the World!”) mixed with classical favorites (“O Holy Night,” “Ave Maria”) and Christmas songbook standards (“White Christmas,” Mel Torme’s “The Christmas Song,” and “Christmas Time Is Here” from the perennial television favorite A Charlie Brown Christmas). Throw in some songs from the whimsical 1980s television special John Denver and The Muppets: A Christmas Together and a couple of holiday cabaret surprises, and you have an intimate and moving original show that the whole family will enjoy. According to some subscribers, it just isn’t the Christmas season until you experience CHRISTMAS IN SONG at Quality Hill Playhouse.
About the Cast
Returning to the Playhouse for this year’s holiday festivities will be Lauren Bradshaw, who made her Playhouse debut earlier this year in IT’S DELOVELY, and Lindsey McKee (pictured above), who has shared her glorious classical voice with Playhouse audiences for many Christmas seasons and who recently was named one of the top six sopranos in the American Prize. Joining them will be Brad Dawdy, who is making his QHP debut with this production. The production is created and directed by Producing Artistic Director J. Kent Barnhart who also serves as pianist, vocalist, and emcee.
