“If music be the food of love, play on.”
The celebratory kick-off to KCRep’s 2022/23 season is Shakespeare’s liveliest rom-com! A comedy of mistaken identity, music, and the madness of love, this Twelfth Night is fresh, bold, and full of surprises.
The story starts when a ship wrecks on the rocks. Viola washes ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she steps out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love! Where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible.
Twelfth Night features original music composed just for this production by Jason Ma, direction from KCRep Associate Artistic Director Nelson T. Eusebio III, and an all-star cast, including faces familiar to KCRep audiences – Freddy Acevedo, Sam Cordes, Manon Halliburton, and Vanessa Severo – as well as several actors making their KCRep debut – Darrington Clark, Jojo Gonzalez, Brandon Jones, Jimmy Kieffer, Francesca Fernandez McKenzie, Eileen Rivera, and Chelsea Rolfes.
This must-see tale of unrequited love is both hilarious and heartbreaking. Don’t miss your chance to see a funny, fresh, contemporary take on this Shakespearean crowd-pleaser: tickets are on sale now at kcrep.org!
