Quality Hill Playhouse continues its annual tradition of presenting holiday music in a cabaret setting when CHRISTMAS IN SONG opens November 24. The production will mark the 16th consecutive year of presenting the Playhouse’s signature blend of sacred and secular Christmas songs in the intimate 153-seat theatre.
This year’s revue will feature beloved carols including “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “I Wonder As I Wander,” “The First Noel,” and “Joy to the World!”; classical favorites “O Holy Night,” “The Birthday of a King,” “Gesu Bambino”; a spirited gospel arrangement of “Go Tell It on the Mountain”; songs by pop artists Harry Connick, Jr., Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith; songs from the television classic A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS (“Linus and Lucy,” “Christmastime Is Here”); and the quintessential holiday song, Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”
Vocalists LaTeesha McDonald Jackson (pictured above) and Sarah LaBarr return to the Christmas revue, having performing in previous years’ renditions of the holiday classic as well as other Playhouse productions. Joseph Carr makes his debut on the Playhouse stage with this production, although he has been seen and heard on many of Kansas City’s other stages. The ensemble is led by Playhouse Producing Artistic Director J. Kent Barnhart who also serves as pianist/emcee. All four are certain to lighten the hearts and souls of audiences with the wonder and joy of the season through some of its most beautiful music.
CHRISTMAS IN SONG runs through December 24 at Quality Hill Playhouse, 303 W. 10th Street, Kansas City, Mo. Single tickets are $38, with discounts for students, seniors, and groups. For tickets, call 816-421-1700. Visit www.QualityHillPlayhouse.com for more information or to purchase tickets online.
