Lyric Opera of Kansas City Presents Journey to Valhalla

May 3 & 5 at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

A Compendium of Wagner’s Epic Ring Cycle.

Are you ready for an epic musical journey? Richard Wagner’s legendary four-opera cycle, The Ring of the Nibelung, based on ancient Norse mythology, is one of the most significant achievements in music and opera history. Our new production, Journey to Valhalla, immerses audiences in Wagner’s monumental The Ring of the Nibelung through the collaborative efforts of conductor Michael Christie, director Joshua Horowitz, and projection designer David Murakami, utilizing the illustrations of Arthur Rackham. Remarkably, we distill nearly 15 hours of operatic grandeur into an enthralling experience of less than 3 hours. This breathtaking journey through Wagner’s orchestrations and soaring music will transport you to a world of adventure and features the Kansas City Symphony alongside powerful Wagnerian singers.
