Highlights include:
The Witcher in Concert (Sept. 11) Witness the open-world RPG’s timeless score brought to life with a live orchestra performance, featuring special appearances by Polish folk metal band Percival, the original co-composers of the game’s soundtrack. This cinematic experience combines breathtaking in-game visuals with live music, making it a must-see event for fans of The Witcher and epic orchestral performances alike.
New Dance Partners: The Ultimate Collaboration (Sept. 19 & 20) Audiences will delight in a feast for the eyes as four new works premiere on Yardley Hall stage. For this festival of contemporary and modern dance, the Midwest Trust Center has enlisted four choreographers to create original works for four local dance companies to perform at the world premieres.
The collaborative partners are:
- The Kansas City Ballet, working with Caroline Dahm
- Owen/Cox Dance Group, working with Caili Quan
- Störling Dance Theater, working with Dolly Sfeir
- Regina Klenjoski Dance Company, working with Jessi Stegall
The Life and Music of George Michael (Oct. 23) Celebrating the performance and sound of one of the biggest international stars of our time. It’s the tribute show that has fans on their feet, dancing and singing along to blockbuster hits “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go,” “Freedom,” “Faith,” “Careless Whisper,” “Father Figure,” and many more.
Collage Dance Collective (Nov. 14) The dynamic program of mixed repertory features “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” a neoclassical ballet co-choreographed by company cofounder and artistic director Kevin Thomas and Amy Hall Garner, inspired by the Zora Neale Hurston novel of the same name once heralded as “one of the 100 best novels” by TIME magazine.
Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol (Dec. 11) Dickens’ classic characters and Parton’s one-of-a-kind songwriting expertise are certain to make this a holiday event you’ll want to share with those you love. This incredibly heartwarming, unforgettable production, and amazing cast imagines Ebenezer Scrooge as the owner of a mining company town, where his callous greed blinds him to the joys and gifts of the season.
Jungle Book (Jan. 17-18) A new adaptation of the Mowgli stories burst to life using spectacular video, shadow play, and original music perfect for the whole family. Jungle Book will transport you from Mowgli’s childhood with the wolves in India, to our urban jungle today. The hit show delves into themes of belonging and our relationship to the animal kingdom.
The Acting Company presents Great Expectations (Feb. 14) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Feb. 15). Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations has been reinvigorated with an effervescent stage adaptation brimming with unexpected hilarity and romantic heart. The next day come back for a rapturous, fresh take on one of William Shakespeare’s most popular and widely performed plays.
Serial Killers with Dr. Scott Bonn (Mar. 13) Spend a deliciously chilling evening with renowned criminologist and serial killer expert, Dr. Scott Bonn, as he takes you inside the minds of the world’s most savage and prolific murderers. Hear Doc Bonn’s unique chilling insights from examining Dennis Rader (BTK Strangler), David Berkowitz (Son of Sam), Rex Heuermann (Alleged Long Island Serial Killer), Jeffery Dahmer, and more.
Australian Chamber Orchestra (Apr. 19) The ACO lives and breathes music, making waves around the world for its explosive performances that redefine orchestral music. Celebrating 50 years of music-making the program will feature Vaughan Williams’ “The Lark Ascending” and a new work by John Luther Adams.
